Entry Into Belize

Prior to entering the country, please refer to your country’s immigration office for the relevant information needed to travel to and within Belize.

Visas and permits

Please note that a visa does NOT guarantee entry into Belize, it is at the immigration officers’ discretion to allow entry into the country. Please allow ample time to apply for a visa before travelling. The processing of visas may take a minimum of ONE (1) month.

All visitors must travel to Belize on a valid passport (non-expired). The passport must be valid for no less than six months after the intended period of stay in Belize. 

Tourist Entry Permits (usually valid for 30 days).

These are the most common permits granted to individuals arriving into Belize with a valid passport and visa. Persons arriving from the United States, United Kingdom and Canada are only required to carry a valid passport upon their arrival to Belize.

If you intend to extend your stay in Belize, you may apply to renew your permit at any Immigration Department in Belize before the expiration date. It is highly suggested that you seek assistance when applying to save time.

Center for Disease Control 

Prior to traveling to Belize you should visit your doctor, preferably 4-6 weeks before your trip, in order to receive any vaccines or medications you may need.

Climate of Belize

Belize has a tropical climate, with warm to hot weather year-round. Rainfall is possible throughout the year, though February–May is the driest period. November–January, when it’s slightly cooler, is a popular time to visit. High winds are possible June–November, the Caribbean hurricane season.
